Gibsons Games

Gibsons Games

Brief: Junglespeed is an action-packed game based on ‘snap’. Launched in Parisian bars in 1997, it gained cult status throughout France. In 2003, Gibsons Games was granted UK distribution. We were asked to don our pith helmets and help launch Junglespeed in the UK.

Solution: Junglespeed is fast, loud, and a little bit ‘out there’, so who better than students to sound the jungle drums and create a buzz. Themed gaming nights in university bars were promoted with posters and flyers and supported by a website, viral movie and online competition. The retro comic book-styled posters helped to draw the crowds and elimination games were played for monkey underpants, a 10-foot rubber python and other bizarre jungle-themed prizes.

Result: The crowd got into the swing of things and by the end of each evening everyone was participating in bongo play-offs and competitions to see who could do the best chimp impressions. Junglespeed quickly became one of Gibsons’ top seller and within days of its launch, the website received thousands of visitors every day.
